Tips to relieve foot pain at home

We often completely forget to take care of our feet and unfortunately they are neglected. We only remember to take care of them when they hurt or meander to us, or when summer finally arrives and the sandals emerge. Foot pain can be the result of a variety of causes.

Doctors recommend that we examine our feet daily to find any tears and skin abrasions, sores, redness, cracks or other problems that may require special attention.

When your feet hurt

Foot pain has many causes, so let’s explore some of them here:

  • Overweight
  • Flat feet
  • Deformities, such as hammer toes
  • Warts
  • Arthritis
  • Bone spores
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Ingrown toenails, etc.

Daily foot care to avoid foot pain

  • Wash them daily with mild soap and warm water (under 37)
  • Wear comfortable socks.
  • Cut your toenails when needed. If you can not do it yourself, go to a podiatrist. Cut your nails straight across and not too short.
  • Do regular foot exercises.
  • Lose weight if you are overweight.
  • If you are diabetic, take good care of your feet and go to your doctor if you find any dents, discoloration, sores or have swelling at the ankles.
  • Pay special attention to wounds and try to prevent them from becoming inflamed.
  • Sleep with your feet raised slightly above the knees, which facilitates blood flow.

How To Relieve Foot Pain At Home

  • A foot bath: Fill a tub with warm water and add sea salt to it. Gently massage your feet and activate the blood circulation in your feet. Dry each foot, paying particular attention to the areas between the toes. Now apply moisturizer (leave the skin between the toes without moisturizer), talcum powder or other special powder.
  • Foot bath with ginger: Grate some ginger for approx. 3 liters of boiling water. Once cooled to a comfortable temperature, put your feet in the water and massage them to stimulate blood circulation.
  • Horse chestnut is very good at improving blood circulation and reducing inflammation. Apply it directly or look for creams that contain it. A good alternative is essential rosemary oil, which is also anti-inflammatory.
  • Add a few drops of arnica tincture to warm water and bathe your feet in it for a few minutes, but no longer than 5 minutes, because arnica can have a drying effect.
  • A massage with castor oil helps eliminate irritation and dryness.
  • Adding a few drops of essential mint oil to the warm water will soothe the burning sensation and make the feet fresh.

Exercises to improve foot health

  • Lay a tennis ball on the floor and rest your foot on it. Roll the ball around and massage the arch of your foot.
  • Lie or sit on the floor with your legs outstretched in front of you and your toes pointing toward the ceiling. Stretch your toes and then return to the starting position.
  • In the same position on the floor or on a bed, turn your ankles and draw large circles in the air.
  • Make sure you are barefoot, sitting on a chair. Curl your toes as if trying to grab something. You can also grab a towel or a ball with your feet during this exercise.
