Let’s start by mentioning some of the benefits of this nourishing and colorful delicacy.

First, it is important to remember that  guacamole is rich in calories because of the fat that is in avocados. For example, 2.5 dl contains between 240 and 270 calories.

However, that does not mean you should not eat it. In fact, the fat that comes from avocados is very healthy for the body (as long as it is in moderate amounts).

In addition, there are countless other benefits!

  • Avocados are rich in fiber. Half a deciliter provides about 3 grams of fiber. This is important to control one’s appetite, maintain an adequate sugar level and digestion.
  • Vitamin A in guacamole helps  keep your immune system strong and your skin healthy. Half a decility contains about 85 IU of vitamin A.
  • One serving contains 3 grams of polyunsaturated fat and 1 gram of monounsaturated fat. It makes it a really good food for your heart. Therefore, eating guacamole reduces the risk of heart problems.
  • Avocado fat also helps absorb fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E and K) and  helps you feel full longer.
  • Avocados are rich in nutrients. This means that your body will feel more satiated with the right portion. It will keep you from satisfying your hunger with unhealthy foods rich in calories.

  1. After washing the ingredients thoroughly, chop the tomato and onion. Then do the same with coriander.
  2. Put these ingredients in a bowl where you want to cook your guacamole. Use a stone mortar if you have one.
  3. Make sure your avocados are ripe enough. Cut them in half and remove the core.
  4. Use a spoon to scrape out all the meat and bring it up into the bowl.
  5. Add lime zest, a pinch of salt and chili to give your guacamole some spice.
  6. Using a spoon or mortar, mash all the ingredients to mix them together.

Traditionally, guacamole has small pieces of avocado in it, so do not mash it too much. However, if you prefer it more creamy, you can blend it.

If you do not eat all your guacamole, you can put it in an airtight container and store it in the fridge for a few days.
